I like this. In fact, I like this more than that Nike ad. Yes, it's all marketing, but it's a nice idea and shows that mostly, people just want to get along. Just like in World War I.
This ad from Nike is their second World Cup spot, their first being Risk Everything (both by Wieden + Kennedy). People are going a bit nuts over this, saying it's their best yet, and so on, but for me, Risk Everything is far, far better. Winner Stays might be packed with famous footballers, but does that really make it brilliant? I don't think so, not in the slightest. Risk Everything has far more emotion, and for me (not the biggest football fan in the world), conveys the intensity, pressure and skill of the game far better. Winner Stays is just a bit of fun. And it's 4 minutes long which is just silly.
