Two blogs about a whole lot of nothing

Truly Pointless Points

I have just recently learnt the meaning of a word that I have always known, but never used. I used to get teased in other countries for not knowing enough English. How unfair is that? Some say that there are roughly one million words in British English, including slang, and jargon. How the hell am I meant to know them? Why would I need to? Wait, this isn't making my point any better, as the word I recently learnt isn't a particularly uncommon one. It is, to save time, 'serendipity'.

It popped into my head, and I thought what a nice word it was to say, but then realised that I had no real idea what it meant. Clearly it wasn't anything too bad, as it just doesn't sound bad, but I hesitate to say that as already a bell is ringing in my head that somewhere, in those million words, there must be a word that is a joy to say, but means something similar to 'castration', or 'to have one's face caved in with a mallet', but, just to live dangerously; I'll ignore that bell for now. So, I looked it up:

The occurence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

How great is that? I love it. Call me slow and stupid; but I love it. It's my new favourite word.

On another note. Look at this building:

How great is that? I love that too.

This is also pretty great:

That is my drink at The Absolute Ice Bar. It's alcohol. In an icecube. Genius! You know what else is genius? This:

A crack. In the floor at Tate Modern. Brilliant.

Pointless see? Told you.
